Earnt Advisory is an accounting practice and Registered Tax Agent helping business owners earn more – and earn it the right way.

We start by getting your bookkeeping properly set up so your numbers are clean and reliable. With a solid foundation in place, we look after your ATO compliance obligations, helping you legally minimise tax and create predictability throughout the financial year.

From here, we like to focus on work that truly moves the needle – reviewing pricing and gross margins, implementing a cashflow system, and helping you take home more of what you earn.

“I started out in a country office helping business owners with bookkeeping, accounting, and tax advisory, primarily working with those in the construction industry.

Seeking a change, I then worked in Newcastle, helping individuals and small business owners obtain home loans and asset finance, rounding out my tax experience with practical lending knowledge.

More recently, I’ve also started working with larger organisations, focusing on internal reporting and bringing another skillset to my clients.

I wear T-shirts whenever possible, like good company and cheap travel, and believe that an accountant should do more than tally up last year’s figures. I’m interested in next year’s problems, and helping you solve them.”

    When deciding to sell their family home and move out of town into something with a little more space, Anna and Mat came up against challenges with the banks, as many business owners do when seeking home-loan approval.

    At the root of the problem was a recent change in business structure, as well as a government mandated shut-down period that had skewed the financial reports. Small business financials and operating structures seem to mystify the lending teams at certain banks…

    Working together we were able to find a bank with suitable policy, liaise with the lending team to work through the details, and reach formal loan approval in time for Anna and Mat to purchase their new home. Success.

    Even with simple tax affairs there is opportunity to save if you know what to look for.

    Jeanette owns a rental property in Newcastle NSW, and when going over the property numbers we immediately noticed that a depreciation schedule was never drawn up.

    These schedules let you claim a portion of building costs each year, however because this is only a ‘book figure’, some property investors miss it.

    After organising a property inspection, the extra deduction in year 1 alone covered the cost of the valuer, and we were even able to amend the prior year return to pick up the missed deduction. Money for jam.

    Meg opened her salon doors for the first time back in 2018. She’s achieved a lot since then – from working out of the garage to renovating her salon in a commercial space, developing her own product line, creating an online store, and building a team of staff, to name a few.

    During this time we’ve worked together to establish a neat Xero bookkeeping system with EFTPOS and inventory integration, do some proactive tax planning, and design a commission structure for employees, with plenty more in between, and plenty more still to come.
